The Freehold Twp. Little League is honored to host the Junior League Eastern Regional Tournament for it's 5th straight year. State Champions from Maine to Maryland will participate in the double elimination tournament with the dream of earning a berth to the Junior League World Series in Taylor, Michigan.

The tournament will kick-off with a banquet for the teams & guests on Friday, August 7 at 6:30 PM. The opening ceremony & parade of teams will be held on Saturday, August 8 at 9 AM. The games will be held daily at Michael J. Tighe Park (formerly Liberty Oak Park) Field #7 in Freehold, NJ on Saturday thru Monday: 10 AM, 1 PM, 4 PM & 7 PM; Tuesday: 1 PM, 4 PM & 7 PM; Wednesday: 4 PM & 7 PM; & Thursday: 11 AM & 2 PM (if necessary).

Teams will receive information packets regarding the tournament, official hotels (room blocks & discounted rates), and the banquet. Parents are encouraged to contact their team representative to obtain information on the discount room blocks & the banquet.

2009 State Champions & Host

Connecticut: North End LL, Bridgeport CT (5-0)

North End went 3-0 in Sectional play outscoring opponents 32-8 and then won 2 straight games, including an 18-1 victory, to win the State Championship. The Connecticut State Champs will play their first game on August 8 against the New Jersey State Champs from Holbrook LL.

Delaware:  Camden-Wyoming LL, Camden DE (7-0)

Camden-Wyoming went undefeated in the District & State tournaments winning 4 of the 7 games by a margin of 10 or more runs. The Delaware State Champs will play their first game on August 8 against the Pennsylvania State Champs from Carlisle Area LL.

Maine: Bangor Westside/East Little League, Bangor ME (8-1)

Bangor Westside/East LL will be making it's forth consecutive trip to the Regional's & sixth since 2001. After going 4-0 in the Districts, they lost their first State tournament game and bounced back to win 4 games in 3 days including a come fram behind victory in the 'if' game to capture the state title. The Maine State Champs will play their first game against the Maryland State Champs from Thurmont LL on August 8 in the nightcap.

Maryland: Thurmont Little League, Thurmont MD (6-1)

Thurmont LL went undefeated in District play, and into the States before losing the championship game and bouncing back to win the State Championship. The Maryland State Champs will play their first game against the Maine State Champs from Bangor Westside/East LL on August 8 in the nightcap.

Massachusetts: Quincy Little League, Quincy MA (10-2)

Quincy LL will make their first visit to the Regional's. After going undefeated in District play, Quincy had to climb out of the loser's bracket in both the Section & State Tournaments to capture the State title. On the way they had to win 3 important games in less than 24 hours. The Massachusetts State Champs will play the winner of the Connecticut/New Jersey game on August 9.

New Jersey: Holbrook LL, Jackson NJ (10-1)

Holbrook LL went undefeated in Section & State Tournament play outscoring their opponents 47-5 in those 5 games. The New Jersey State Champs will play the Connecticut State Champs from North End LL on August 8.

NJ District 19 Host: Freehold Twp. LL, Freehold NJ (4-0)

Freehold Twp. LL makes it's second consecutive appearance in the Regional's after winning all 4 games by a margin of 39-2 to capture the District 19 Championship. The NJ District 19 Host Champs will open the Regional's against the Rhode Island State Champs from Rumford LL on August 8.

New York: North Bellmore/North Merrick LL, N. Bellmore/N. Merrick NY (12-1)

The New York State Champs from North Bellmore/North Merrick will play their first game against the winner of the District 19 Host/Rhode Island game on August 9.

Pennsylvania: Carlisle Area LL, Carlisle PA (14-1)

Carlisle will be making their first trip to the Regional's at any level. During their tournament drive they outscored their opponents 143-39. The Pennsylvania State Champs will play their first game on August 8 against the Delaware State Champs from Camden-Wyoming LL.

Rhode Island: Rumford LL, Rumford RI (7-2)

This is Rumford LL's first State title in their 58 year history. After winning the District Tournament, they lost in the first round of states before mounting an exciting comeback which started with 10 inning victory over the defending state champions in the losers bracket final. Rumford then avenged their first loss by beating that team twice in the finals to capture the state crown. The Rhode Island State Champs will open the Regional's against Freehold Twp. LL, the NJ District 19 Host Champs on August 8.
