Triple-A Baseball Matchup: Grasshoppers face the Muckdogs
On a gorgeous, yet humid afternoon, the Muckdogs and Grasshoppers met in a fascinating game that included many strikeouts, line drive shots, and diving plays.
The Grasshoppers started the game off with a run to give themselves an early lead in the first inning. After a scoreless inning on defense, the Grasshoppers scratched another run across the board in the second inning, bringing their lead to 2-0.
With Grasshopper pitching holding the Muckdog bats at bay, the Grasshoppers erupted in the fourth inning, as Marcus C. and Jake A. each doubled in an inning where the Grasshoppers scored four runs.
The Grasshoppers were not done however, as they got their bats going in the fifth inning. The Grasshoppers were smacking baseballs all over the field, but an incredible play by Muckdogs’ shortstop Bruce K. kept the runs scored in the fifth inning to just two, making the score 8-0.
In the sixth inning, the Muckdogs started to get the bats going. With a couple walks and a couple hits, the Muckdogs came back with four runs to get close to the Grasshopper lead. However, the Muckdogs started their rally a little too late, as the Grasshoppers pitched their way out of it, earning the win, 8-4.
