We are in the home stretch of the 2021 Freehold Township Little League Season and playoffs are right around the corner. Playoffs are always an exciting part of the season and we are looking forward to finding out who will win it all in each of our competitive divisions.
It has been a challenging season. After being shut out by the pandemic last year, we started our work with veteran umpires and new umpire training in March. While our Adult Umpire corp handled our Senior Major games and worked with our younger umpires on the intermediate field, our Junior Umpire corp handled our AA and AAA Minor League games this season. For the first time, we added a group of 12 year old umpires to handle AA Minor League games because of the unavailability of many of our 13 and 14 year old umps because of middle and high school ball obligations. As school ball ends we expect many of our trained umpires back in the rotation. Our new 12 year old umpires will be ready to umpire our Minor League Fall ball season in September. Our umpires did a great job this season and we are very proud of their effort.
We urge any of our players interested in umpiring to join us for our fall season. We will provide training and support to all of our new umpires. Keep an eye out here under umpire announcements for signups for the Fall season.
